In a bid to revolutionize technology access and empower citizens, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has called for the widespread adoption of Artificial Intelligence (AI) across the state. Speaking to a gathering of Telugu NRIs from a dozen European countries in Zurich, Switzerland, Naidu shared his ambitious vision: a model where the government pays AI providers a lump sum to enable everyone to use these advanced platforms for free. This concept aims to make AI technology accessible to the masses, ensuring that all citizens can benefit from its capabilities, irrespective of financial constraints.
Naidu, a strong proponent of technological advancements, highlighted the growing importance of AI in modern society. He stressed that platforms like ChatGPT could be pivotal in transforming the way individuals make decisions and solve problems. “At least one person, or everyone in a family, should adopt AI. If you need to make a decision, ask ChatGPT. Ask questions, and it will answer,” Naidu said. He believes that AI can stimulate the human mind and lead to more informed, effective decision-making.
Drawing on the analogy of consulting multiple individuals for advice, Naidu argued that the ability to consult AI would be equally valuable for those who don’t have access to a large network of experts. “Now, people who cannot talk to 10 people should consult ChatGPT or AI,” he noted, emphasizing how AI could serve as an accessible source of knowledge and insights. For Naidu, this vision extends beyond merely promoting technology—it’s about creating a society where AI becomes a tool for empowerment and innovation.
During the event, Naidu also addressed the potential of the Telugu diaspora, drawing parallels between their influence and the success of the Jewish community worldwide. He challenged Telugu NRIs to strive for greater success, suggesting that the relatively small Jewish population has managed to exert significant global influence through political donations, charity, and other contributions. “India’s population is 145 crore, and the Telugu population is 10 crore. If three to four crore Telugu people spread across the world, you can win the world,” he said, urging them to create wealth and use their influence to make a difference.
Naidu’s speech was not limited to technology and diaspora; he also emphasized the importance of managing India’s growing population, particularly in the context of global aging crises. He highlighted India’s potential to emerge as a global leader by 2047 and encouraged NRIs to remain connected with their roots while thriving in their adopted countries. Naidu also mentioned Andhra Pradesh’s plans to become a hub for green hydrogen production, calling on the diaspora to share innovative ideas and best practices.
The Chief Minister’s visit to Zurich coincided with his preparations for the World Economic Forum (WEF) in Davos, where he aims to promote Andhra Pradesh as a prime destination for investment. Naidu and his delegation, including IT Minister Nara Lokesh and Industries Minister TG Bharat, have a packed schedule lined up for meetings with investors and other key stakeholders. Naidu has expressed confidence that the state’s various initiatives, especially in technology and sustainability, will attract significant global attention.
At the Zurich airport, Naidu received a warm welcome from the Europe TDP Forum and Telugu NRIs, who expressed their support for his leadership. Later, Naidu met with Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy and IT Minister D. Sridhar Babu, both of whom are also attending the WEF to promote their respective states. The visit underscores the growing importance of international collaborations to drive economic growth and innovation in India.
In addition to his meetings with the diaspora, Naidu also held discussions with India’s Ambassador to Switzerland, Mrudul Kumar. The Ambassador highlighted the presence of over 350 Swiss companies in India, including industry giants like Novartis, ABB, and Nestle. Both Naidu and Kumar discussed how Switzerland could further collaborate with Andhra Pradesh, particularly in areas like higher education and technology innovation. Naidu emphasized the need for Swiss universities to partner with academic institutions in the state to foster research and development in cutting-edge fields.
