In a move to future-proof talent for tomorrow’s industries, Nanyang Technological University (NTU) Singapore will roll out two pioneering undergraduate programmes in August 2025 — one in Robotics and the other in Advanced Chemical and Pharmaceutical Manufacturing.
The new degree offerings aim to address growing global demand for skilled roboticists and hybrid engineers as industries increasingly adopt automation and advanced manufacturing technologies.
Engineering the Future: Robotics Degree
The Bachelor of Engineering in Robotics is designed to equip students with hands-on, industry-relevant robotics expertise, aligning with Singapore’s Smart Nation goals. The curriculum blends mechanical, electrical, mechatronics, and AI-focused modules — giving students a strong interdisciplinary foundation and the agility to innovate across various sectors.
A First for Singapore: Dual Focus in Chemistry and Engineering
The second programme, Bachelor of Engineering Science in Process Engineering and Synthetic Chemistry, is a first-of-its-kind dual major in Singapore. It combines deep knowledge in chemistry with advanced chemical engineering principles, preparing students to take on roles in the country’s growing high-tech manufacturing sector — especially in pharmaceuticals and specialty chemicals.
Both programmes incorporate forward-looking content, including artificial intelligence and machine learning, to prepare graduates for the rapid changes and challenges of the modern scientific and industrial landscapes.
NTU’s initiative reinforces Singapore’s commitment to developing future-ready talent and strengthening its position as a hub for innovation, automation, and advanced manufacturing.
